Brian,

Add the following fragment of html to the head section of you master page if you want to turn off the feature completely.

<style type="text/css">
span.ObjectRef
{
display: none;
}
</style>

Alternatively you can create a stylesheet in App_Themes/[Namespace] folder with the name that starts with any letter other then "a" and put the same stylesheet there.

Use the same technique if you want to alter this feature for a specific page.
